In a major step to promote Islamic knowledge and revive engagement with the Sunnah, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Doha has announced a global Hadith memorisation competition titled “Mirath Al-Nubuwwah” (Inheritance of Prophethood). The initiative aims to connect Muslim youth worldwide with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), nurturing a generation grounded in knowledge, character, and faith. With total prize money exceeding QR1 million, it stands out as one of the most prominent Hadith-focused competitions at the international level.

The competition is structured into two main categories. The Gold Level focuses on memorisation from Al-Muntaqa by Al-Majd Ibn Taymiyyah, a collection known for its emphasis on jurisprudential Hadiths, while the Silver Level is based on Riyadh Al-Salihin by Imam Al-Nawawi, a widely studied compilation that addresses ethics, spirituality, and everyday conduct. Participants are permitted to compete in only one category, ensuring focused preparation and evaluation.

The competition will take place in multiple stages, beginning with registration from September 1 to October 31, 2026, followed by an online preliminary round in January 2027. The final round is scheduled to be held in Qatar in March 2027, where top performers from each category will be evaluated through live judging. Only the highest-scoring participants will advance to this final stage, making the competition both rigorous and highly selective.

In terms of rewards, the competition offers substantial financial incentives, with prizes distributed among the top ten winners in each category. The first-place winner in the Gold Level will receive up to QR200,000, while the top prize in the Silver Level reaches up to QR120,000, reflecting the scale and seriousness of the initiative.

The title “Mirath Al-Nubuwwah” itself carries deep meaning, referring to the Prophetic tradition that scholars are the inheritors of the prophets. Through this initiative, Qatar seeks not only to encourage memorisation but also to revive a long-standing scholarly tradition that has played a central role in preserving Islamic teachings. By expanding its efforts from local programs to a global platform, the initiative highlights a broader commitment to strengthening Islamic intellectual heritage in a contemporary context.

Ultimately, this global Hadith memorisation competition represents more than a contest; it is an effort to inspire a new generation to engage deeply with the teachings of the Prophet and carry forward a legacy of knowledge, faith, and moral responsibility in an increasingly interconnected world.
