Fiqh Festival at International Islamic University Malaysia

The Secretariat of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh (SOFI) proudly presents MAHRAJAN SOFI 2025, a week-long festival that celebrates knowledge, spirituality, and community under the theme “Anchored in Fiqh, Driven by Purpose.” The event, held from 27th October to 1st November 2025, aims to deepen students’ understanding of fiqh and its relevance in contemporary life while nurturing unity, intellectual growth, and spiritual well-being among the IIUM community.

The festival will commence on Monday, 27th October 2025, with an Opening Ceremony officiated by the Head of Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sayyed Mohamed Muhsin, followed by an address from Dr. Ahmad bin Muhammad Husni, the Advisor for SOFI. This will be followed by a meaningful session entitled “From Ta’aruf to Nikah: A Shorter Path to Sakinah.” Held at ADM LT4, IRK Building, the session features Ustazah Asmak binti Husin and Dr. Noor Yuslida binti Hazahari, who will share insightful guidance on the journey toward marriage based on Islamic teachings. The session aims to encourage students to prepare themselves emotionally, spiritually, and mentally for a family life grounded in sakinah and barakah.

On 28th October 2025 (Tuesday), the program “Path to Purity: Halal Training Awareness” will take place at the KOE Main Auditorium. The session, led by Dr. Wan Syibrah Hanisah binti Wan Sulaiman, Assistant Professor from INHART, focuses on the principles of ṭahārah (purity), amānah (trust), and integrity in halal practices. This event highlights the importance of ethical awareness and fiqh application in professional and daily contexts.

The excitement continues on 29th October 2025 (Wednesday) with “Halal & Fiqh Insights: IIUM Book Experience” at the IRK Building Hallway. This program features six interactive and creative booths designed to make Islamic learning engaging and accessible. In the evening, “Books and Bonds: Excellence in Akhlaq, Study, and Family” will be held at ADM LT4, featuring Dr. Akhtarzaite binti Hj. Abdul Aziz and Ustaz Abdul Hannan bin Mohamad Ibrahim. The talk aims to inspire students to cultivate noble character, maintain academic excellence, and strengthen family ties through Islamic values.

On 30th October 2025 (Thursday), two significant events will take place. In the evening, “Aafiyat Lifestyle: Living Well with Islam”, a motivational talk by Dr. Zubaidi Haji Ahmad will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at Mini Auditorium, IIUM Gombak. The session will focus on the importance of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being in living a balanced Islamic lifestyle, and will also include internship opportunities for interested students. Later that night, from 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., the “Musabaqah Qiraat Kutub Thurath” will take place at the Mini Auditorium, IIUM Gombak, where participants will engage in reading and interpreting classical Islamic texts such as Fath al-Qarib al-Mujib and Sharh al-Waraqat. This competition aims to revive students’ appreciation of Islamic scholarly heritage and enhance their Arabic reading proficiency.

The Closing Ceremony is scheduled for 31st October 2025 (Friday) at ADM LT4, serving as a moment to celebrate the week’s achievements and acknowledge the efforts of all committees, and contributors. The ceremony will include certificate presentations and concluding remarks that reaffirm SOFI’s mission to integrate fiqh knowledge with purposeful living.

Finally, on 1st November 2025 (Saturday), the festival will conclude with the SOFINEKA Fiesta, a day of sports and recreational activities at the MSC Takraw Court. This event aims to foster unity, teamwork, and brotherhood among students while encouraging a balanced lifestyle that combines physical health, mental strength, and spiritual values.

Overall, MAHRAJAN SOFI 2025 serves as a vibrant platform for students to connect knowledge with purpose, faith with action, and intellect with character. Through its diverse and meaningful programs, the festival embodies SOFI’s commitment to cultivating individuals who are truly Anchored in Fiqh, Driven by Purpose, in line with its vision of Raising Fuqaha’, Pioneering Nubala’.
