Dr Faisal K.P is working as the Director of Aligarh Muslim University Centre, Malappuram, Kerala and teaching sociology in the Department of Law at the Centre. He has received his research degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Previously, he taught at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, Hamdard University, New Delhi, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh and Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University, Delhi. He has completed his Master's degree in sociology from the University of Calicut, Kerala after graduation and post-graduation in Islamic studies from Darul Huda Islamic University, Kerala. His research works engage with the contemporary sociological and anthropological theories of religion and culture. His research interests include the relationship between law and society in India, the layers and structures of marginalization and inclusive policies. His PhD work on Rites of Passage among Mappilas o Kerala: A sociological study on Texts and practice deals with Muslim societies' cultural diversities. He has authored more than 30 articles in different journals and periodicals. Dr Faisal has been the member of Aligarh Muslim University Court, Aligarh University Academic Council, and the Senate member, Darul Huda Islamic University. He was selected for the academic leadership programme under US state Department at New York University.
