All praise is due to Allah, and may His blessings and peace be upon His Messenger ﷺ, his family, and his Companions.

You may be asking about the famous hadith narrated by ʿAbdullāh ibn Salām رضي الله عنه, who heard the Prophet ﷺ say upon his arrival in Madinah:

أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ وَأَطْعِمُوا الطَّعَامَ وَصَلُّوا وَالنَّاسُ نِيَامٌ تَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ بِسَلَامٍ

“O people! Spread the greeting of peace, feed others, and pray while people sleep; you will enter Paradise in peace.”

(Jāmiʿ al-Tirmidhī, no. 2485; Imām al-Tirmidhī graded it ṣaḥīḥ.)

“Spreading peace” here specifically includes exchanging the greeting “al-salāmu ʿalaykum.” Feeding others encourages generosity and care, particularly for those who are hungry or in need. Praying while others sleep refers to voluntary night prayer, through which a Muslim nurtures sincerity and closeness to Allah.

The hadith brings together kindness towards people and devotion to Allah, teaching that both belong at the heart of Muslim life.

Allah knows best.
