Abdul Jaleel P.K.M. is a researcher at Muhammad Alagil Distinguished Chair, Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore. He also teaches at the Department of Islamic and West Asian Studies, University of Kerala. He has been awarded PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi for the thesis, ‘Hadrami Sayyid Diaspora in Kerala and Singapore: A Comparative Study” which examined historical and anthropological experiences of an immigrant community from Hadramawt of Southern Arabia. He had worked earlier as a research leader for the Qatar Unified Imagining Project (QUIP), funded jointly by the Qatar Foundation and the University of Exeter. He had completed his M. Phil. from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and Masters from Darul Huda Islamic University, Kerala.
